Recently, the China Education Association for International Exchange announced the list of the first batch of China-ASEAN Vocational Education Exemplary Partnership programs. The cooperative project between our university and Indonesia's Jember State Polytechnic has been selected, making our institution one of the first ten universities to be included in this initiative.
To implement the spirit of the Promoting Joint Educational Actions for the Belt and Road Initiative, in August 2022, with the support and guidance of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, the China Education Association for International Exchange initiated the establishment of the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Consortium. This consortium aims to deepen vocational education cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, set exemplary models of collaboration, and play a demonstrative role. In March 2023, the selection process for the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Exemplary Partnership was launched.
Our university, Indonesia's Jember State Polytechnic, and Jiangsu Delong Nickel Industry Co., Ltd. have a solid foundation of prior cooperation. Since 2017, our university has collaborated with Jember State Polytechnic on a 2+1 joint education program, training over 60 international students from Indonesia in fields such as the Internet of Things and software technology. In September 2018, together with Delong Nickel Industry, we established the Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology – Delong Nickel Industry Zhixing College, offering customized classes and providing training for enterprise employees. This initiative supports the company’s going global strategy and its talent localization efforts.
In the future, leveraging the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Exemplary Partnership program, our university will further promote the application of the Four Models and One Localization international framework in Indonesia. This effort aims to enhance the educational capabilities and standards of Indonesian institutions while grounding initiatives in local industries. By fostering local talent development and providing on-site technical services, we seek to achieve a win-win outcome for all three parties—our university, Indonesian institutions, and enterprises. This will advance the going global strategy of China's vocational education and contribute further to the Belt and Road Initiative.
