On November 9, the 13th Academic Annual Conference of the Jiangsu-Taiwan Higher Vocational Education Presidents Joint Conference was successfully held in Changzhou. The conference was organized by the Jiangsu-Taiwan Higher Vocational Education Presidents Joint Conference, hosted by our university, and co-organized by Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Commerce.
The conference aimed to further deepen exchanges and cooperation in higher vocational education between Jiangsu province and Taiwan province, build a collaborative development platform for higher vocational education across the strait, and jointly promote and lead the high-quality development of higher vocational education in both regions. The event attracted over 60 representatives from more than 40 higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province, as well as more than 20 guests from 14 universities and industry associations in Taiwan. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions focusing on two main themes: deepening cooperation in higher vocational education between Jiangsu province and Taiwan province, and the innovative development of vocational education empowered by AI.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Chang, President of our university, with Xu Chaoshan, Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, delivering the welcome address.
Secretary Xu introduced Changzhou’s unique advantages as a historical and cultural city + advanced manufacturing base, as well as our university’s distinctive features, which include a focus on intelligent manufacturing as its core, consecutive selections into the national Double High Plan, 86% of its programs aligning with Jiangsu’s high-end equipment industry, and a leading position nationally in the Industrial Robotics Technology program. He also highlighted our university’s active promotion of cross-strait educational exchanges through initiatives such as jointly establishing expert studios and organizing competitions. Furthermore, he expressed expectations to deepen the integrated model of Taiwan technology + mainland market + Jiangsu production capacity + Changzhou talent.
Representatives from the Jiangsu-Taiwan Higher Vocational Education Presidents Joint Conference, including Tian Yiju, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Commerce (the standing vice-chair unit), and representatives from Taiwanese universities, delivered speeches acknowledging our university’s contributions to vocational education exchanges between Jiangsu province and Taiwan province.
During the keynote report session, eight educational experts from both sides of the strait, including Xie Yonghua, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology, shared valuable insights on the theme of AI Empowering Vocational Education, providing useful references for the reform of vocational education at our university.
The roundtable forum, themed Co-creating the Future: Practices and Prospects of Cross-Strait Educational Exchanges and Cooperation, featured in-depth discussions among relevant guests. Wu Rong, Director of the Academic Affairs Office of our university, shared experiences in AI-powered teaching reforms and enhancing the quality of talent cultivation.
At the closing ceremony, President Liu Chang delivered a concluding speech, emphasizing the success of the annual conference in deepening the consensus on the development laws of vocational education in the AI era across the strait and further strengthening collaborative bonds. The ceremony included the presentation of the chair unit plaque for the 13th Jiangsu-Taiwan Higher Vocational Education Presidents Joint Conference. Xue Maoyun, President of the Jiangsu Higher Vocational Education Research Association, Provincial Inspector of Jiangsu, and former President of Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Commerce, presented the chair unit plaque to President Liu Chang. This was followed by the handover of the conference flag, confirming that the 14th annual conference will be hosted by Nanjing Polytechnic Institute. With this, the current annual conference concluded successfully.
